According to @lalalavendr 's data, the DAOs analyzed usually underwent a significant governance revision roughly 10 months in, with 6 months between subsequent iterations.

Transformability in DAOs is about more than just adaptability; it's about ensuring sustainable growth and evolution in a rapidly changing ecosystem.

A promising middle ground is a minimal governance system that balances flexibility and structure. The Optimism Collective sets the expectation of continuous change via a commitment to experimentation.

Of the DAOs researched, those lacking structure often faced the risk of collapse. Without a minimum set of policies, decisions end up being based on precedents, which can reduce a DAO’s ability to transform and evolve.

In practice, the Token House operationalizes the commitment to experimentation by running governance experiments during short Seasons followed by periods for feedback and iteration (Reflection Periods).

Reactive and rigid policy can hinder adaptability. A better solution is to come up with frameworks that guide decision-making when faced with unknowns. Prescriptive rules will inevitably fall short when edge cases arise.
